    Essay Contest Opens

    January 15

    Henry was Young Once Too

We invite 7th, 8th and 11th grade students in Knox County to enter our 1st annual Essay Contest. Henry Knox was many things in his short 56 years. He was self-educated when he went to General George Washington with a plan for moving artillery. He held many titles in his short life – patriot, military man, farmer, and entrepreneur—but most of all he was a leader.

    Henry believed:

    • No task is impossible
    • One individual can do big things
    • One should help those who need help
    • Never be afraid to try
    • Trust oneself
    • Lead by example
    • Dare to dream and then work to make it come true

Please submit an essay that explores both the Henry Knox leadership quality you chose and how you hope to nurture that quality in the next few years.  How can you use the chosen quality to help your school or your community? All essays must be received by March 15, 2022.  Middle school essays should be approximately 500 words (2 typed pages).  High School essays should be approximately 750 words (3 typed pages).  Winners will be announced by May 1, 2022. Watch our Calendar and Events Pages for updates. (Illustration from https://michaelmaspress.com/2014/03/17/henry-knox-bookseller-soldier-patriot/)
