Mahogany four poster bed, ca. 1820
This early Empire style bed boasts intricately carved posts with a spiral rope design and festoons of drapery. The posts are surmounted with a pineapple-shaped cluster of acanthus leaves and stand on massive lion paw feet. The headboard is carved with a basket of fruit.
